Theatre Co. nominated

for five Perry Awards

Broadway has the Tony, television has the Emmy, motion pictures have the Oscar, but community theater has the Perry. Ocean County College Theatre Company has recently received five Perry Award nominations.

The nonprofit organization Recog-nition of Excellence in Community Theatre Inc. sponsors the Perry Awards each year and honors outstanding community theater productions throughout New Jersey.

Between 150 and 200 shows per season are reviewed with 25 nomination committee members who see and score the productions. Each production is seen by two committee members, the scores are averaged, and the top seven productions in each category are nominated.

The OCC Theatre Company has been nominated for the following awards: Outstanding Direction of a Play, Arthur Waldman, Toms River, for Crimes of the Heart; Ensemble Actor in a Play, Nicholas Kelly, Lakewood, for Mr. Roberts; Outstanding Lighting Design by Judi Finnegan, Lakewood, for Crimes of the Heart; Outstanding Properties by Susan Suchcicki, Brick, for Sideman; and Outstanding Set Design by Neil Prince, Interlaken, for Crimes of the Heart.
