Six are arrested at Holmdel
Motor Inn on drug charges
HOLMDEL — Responding to numerous complaints and information received from the Holmdel Police Department, the Bayshore Narcotics Task Force initiated an investigation last week into the sale of narcotics at the Holmdel Motor Inn, on Route 35 south.
The investigation, which started last Thursday afternoon and concluded early Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of six people.
Timothy Smith, 27, Highland Boulevard, Keansburg, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, three counts with the intent to distribute, and two counts of distribution to undercover officers. Smith’s bail was set at $7,500, with no 10 percent bail option.
Detective Sgt. Michael Smith said that the amount of drug activity at the site was overwhelming, with people smoking crack out in the open, and numerous people looking to purchase drugs all night long.
According to Detective Sgt. Smith, Smith was renting a room and allegedly had his customers come to the motel to purchase crack, powdered cocaine and prescription pills, including Vicodin.
After Smith’s arrest, the investigation continued to include those who were looking to purchase drugs.
Also arrested and charged with conspiracy to possess cocaine were Rosalyn Davis Williams, 31, and Terry Bailey, 28, both Holmdel Motor Inn, who were also wanted out of Middlesex County on drug charges and whose bail was set at $2,500 each; and Jacob "Brody" Portman, 26, Cedar Ave, Long Branch, John Thornton, 24, First Ave., Atlantic Highlands and Randy Matthews, 42, Holmdel Motor Inn, all of whom were released without bail.
Two vehicles and approximately $1,000 in cash were seized. Detective Sgt. Smith said that the investigation into drug activity at the Holmdel Motor Inn is continuing.
