Allentown women’s
group holds banquet
The Woman’s Association of Allentown held its annual banquet recently, and Gisela Santini, formerly of Allentown, and a 25-year member of the organization, was named Woman of the Year for her dedication to the organization and the community. Outgoing co-presidents Jeanine Consoli and Kathy Cann, along with their officers, were thanked for their service to the organization.
The event included the revealing of "secret pals," as well as a surprise rendition of the twin soliloquy from the play "South Pacific," with Sally Koenigsberg singing the voices of both Nellie Forbush and Emile De Becque.
Meg Smith is the incoming president, with Martine Arndt as first vice president, Kristin Rath as secretary and Maria Lindzmayer as treasurer.

Allentown parade set for May 31, rain or shine
The Allentown Lions Club will sponsor the Memorial Day parade May 31. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on north Main Street at the Allen Drive exit, head south through town, and turn left on High Street, ending at the Elementary School.
More than 70 groups are scheduled to participate, including American Legion Post 31, marching bands, antique cars, fire departments, Civil War re-enactors, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Bagpipe Band, US-1 country western band, a motorcycle drill team, horseback riders and carriages, and many more bands, organizations, Scouts and teams.
Spectators may view the parade from both Main and High streets. The parade will go on, rain or shine. If necessary, a decision regarding cancellation for dangerous conditions, such as lightning or strong winds, may be made at any time. At the conclusion of the parade, all are invited to attend a memorial service to salute the men and women who gave their lives for their country. This year’s Memorial Day address will be given by the Rev. Merton A. Steelman of Allentown United Methodist Church.
Free event at Riding High
Farm, open to community
The Handicapped High Riders Club at Riding High Farm, Allentown, will host the 14th Annual Family & Friends Day June 13 from noon to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
Area families are invited to a free day of fun and to learn more about this special program. The day will feature pony and carriage rides, auctions for children and adults, music, games, a trampoline tent, and basket raffles. This year is also the 25th anniversary of Handicapped High Riders Club, and its first yearbook will be available.
