Manalapan resident, 23, charged in Millstone Township stabbings

MANALAPAN — A Manalapan man has been arrested and charged in connection with a double stabbing that occurred in neighboring Millstone Township.

Police said that Thomas Norman, 23, of Manalapan, was arrested on Nov. 7 in connection with the stabbing of two individuals that took place in the early morning hours of that day.

At 1:18 a.m. Nov. 7, troopers from the New Jersey State Police Hamilton substation responded to a home on Deer Trail Drive in Millstone for a report of a stabbing, according to a state police press release.

Two males sustained what police described as non-life-threatening stab wounds and were airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment. No information regarding the medical condition or age of the males has been released.

At 5:46 p.m. Nov. 7, Manalapan Patrolman Bryan Belardo stopped a vehicle on Pension Road, Manalapan, for a motor vehicle violation, according to a press release from the Manalapan Police Department.

Norman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was placed under arrest for an active criminal warrant out of Holmdel, according to Manalapan police.

Police said Norman was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Norman was charged by Manalapan police with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to the state police barracks in Hamilton Township, Mercer County.

“Throughout the course of the initial investigation (into the stabbings in Millstone Township), Norman was identified as a possible suspect. The New Jersey State Police notified the Manalapan police since Norman is a resident of Manalapan,” New Jersey State Police Lt. Brian Polite said.

In connection with the incident in Millstone Township, Norman was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon. He was lodged at the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $120,000 bail, with no option to pay 10 percent.
