Bayshore Community Health Services, Holmdel, has announced that Michael A. Serluco has joined the Board of Trustees for Bayshore Community Hospital and the Board of Directors for Bayshore Health Care Management Corp. He is a principal at Serluco and Co. LLC, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, Holmdel. The firm was founded in 1984 by his father, Richard J. Serluco.

Prior to that, Michael Serluco was a senior accountant at Deloitte & Touche, Parsippany.

Serluco received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland School of Business Administration, College Park, and is a licensed certified public accountant in New Jersey and New York. He spent most of his life in the Holmdel area, and currently resides in Freehold with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children.

J.H. Cohn LLP announced that William Lewis, certified public accountant and a partner in the firm’s Eatontown office, has been inducted as secretary/treasurer of the Board of Trustees of CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, for a two-year term. In this position, Lewis will serve as the chairman of CentraState’s Finance Committee, which is responsible for the analysis and approval of the annual budget, the review of the monthly financial statements and presentation of the management reports to the board, as well as the supervision of investment funds. In addition, the finance committee, chaired by Lewis, oversees the Audit/Corporate Compliance, Investment and Insurance subcommittees.

Lewis delivers all facets of financial, accounting, tax and consulting services to health care providers in the New York metropolitan area, as well as throughout the country. While the medical/dental community accounts for more than half of his practice, Lewis also works with a wide array of professional services organizations and high net-worth individuals.

Avis Gardell, a sales associate at Re/Max American Realty Associates, Colts Neck, has joined the national Re/Max Children’s Miracle Network Home Program. Under this program, Gardell will donate a specified amount of money to the Children’s Miracle Network per sales transaction. Gardell will display a "Miracle Home" rider on top of her Re/Max yard signs, which signifies to the home buyer and seller that their transaction helps make a positive change in the lives of local children.

Julian Ingram has completed his studies in the air conditioning, refrigeration and heating technology program at Lincoln Technical Institute, Union. A graduate of Freehold Borough High School, Ingram lives in Freehold with his wife and four children.

Linda Rae Kernis, IIDA and Allied Member ASID, of Linda Rae Kernis Inte­rior Designs Inc., Freehold, presented "Avoiding Decorating Mistakes: Don’t Just Like It, Love It" at the Jan. 8 meet­ing of the Newcomers/Encore Club of Colts Neck and Holmdel. Kernis has been a resident of Freehold Township for 31 years and a freelance interior designer for 27 years, specializing in both residential and commercial design.

Some of her works include freelance consulting for the architectural firm that designed the 40,000-square-foot Schroth School and Technical Education Center for Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Wegmans, Manalapan, raised $31,701 in support of this year’s Check-Out Hunger fund-raiser, which takes place from October through December statewide. The Manalapan store topped all collections in New Jersey and Penn­sylvania, and made a decided impact on the total funds raised benefiting The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, and the more than 200 chari­ties served by the food bank.

Wegmans manager Tim Lockwood and head cashier Michelle Edington moti­vated employees to reach out to cus­tomers, who, in turn, supported the tear-off coupon campaign with their generous donations. The funds will be used to sup­port the mission of the FoodBank to sup­ply food to those in need in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Check-Out Hunger is in its 12th year and encompasses six states on the East Coast. Launched in 1991 by the Commu­nity Food Bank of New Jersey and New Jersey food retailers, the program was designed to raise awareness about hunger and the role of food banking — coopera­tively, without competition or advantage. In 1991, more than $200,000 was raised. Last year, Check-Out Hunger raised more than $862,000 in New Jersey.

ERA Advantage Realtors has an­nounced the top producers in the Man­alapan office for the month of December. They are Michele Neidle, Jim Helms and Larry Conti.

The top achievers for December at the Freehold office are Ivy B. Jacot, Kathleen Hobbs and Angela Lang.

In the Marlboro office, the top produc­ers are Jane Joseph, Cynthia Albujar and Gwendolyn Brunie.

Century 21 Mack-Morris Iris Lurie Realtors, Marlboro, announced its top sales associates for 2003 at company’s the annual awards dinner held at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge. They are: Sharon Marks, Garry A. Klein, Gloria Bernstein, Christine Lundberg, the team of Florence and Steven Cataneo, Marcia Sokol, Fran Krumholz, Martin Cole, Marcy Leder and Jeffrey Ozinitsky.

Awards were also given to those sales associates who sold the most properties listed by other agencies. Christine Lund­berg had the highest number of sales, fol­lowed by Martin Cole and Marcia Sokal. Jodiann Garone received a special award for her outstanding achievement in sales for 2003.

Iris Lurie also announced that Cen­tury 21 Mack-Morris Iris Lurie would soon be moving into its new Century 21 Building, located on Route 9 south just north of Route 520 in Marlboro.

Dr. Michael D. Baskin, an optomet­ric physician with offices in the Pond Road Shopping Center in Freehold Town­ship, recently attended the third annual Primary Care Optometry Symposium held recently in New York City. The three-day symposium emphasized diag­nosis, treatment and management of the glaucoma patient; the management of the dry eye patient; updates of new therapeu­tic medications for the patient with an ocular allergy; refractive surgery updates with the newest technologies; examina­tion of the pediatric patient with clinical considerations for contact lens wear from birth through adolescence; and exploring wave-front technology and incorporating it in the new custom Lasik procedure.
