The New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC) recently held a Law Enforcement Appreciation ceremony at the College of New Jersey. Thirty-three correction officers, parole officers and investigators who earned promotions or special awards were recognized. In addition officers who have recently returned from service in the various branches of the United States armed forces, as well as JJC retirees were honored. Senior Corrections Officer Daniel Sullivan, of Manalapan, was among the local officers who earned promotions. Officer Sullivan was promoted to investigator.

Commerce Bank, Cherry Hill, recently named Stephanie L. Hadam as vice president, commercial real estate lending. She will develop customized real estate lending solutions for commercial real estate clients throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties. Commerce Bank has branches in Aberdeen, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Freehold, Howell, Middletown, Ocean, Red Bank, Tinton Falls and West Long Branch.

William J. Whelan, professional engineer, has joined the engineering and consulting firm Schoor DePalma Inc. as department manager of MEP services for New Jersey at the company’s Manalapan corporate headquarters.

Whelan brings 25 years of experience to the firm in building engineering design and management in industrial, institutional and commercial markets with project types for corporate office, research and development (pharmaceutical), higher education, K-12, health care, correctional, library, community centers and multifamily residential.

His responsibilities will encompass developing and expanding Schoor DePalma’s building services division throughout New Jersey and Pennsyl-vania and to further establish the corporate image as one that is synonymous with quality and client satisfaction.

Allen M. Gottfried, a Jersey Shore-based music video director, was recently selected to receive the Telly Award for a video he directed in Los Angeles in 2004. The high-energy music video featured the Southern California-based rock group Handsome Devil. Gottfried, a 2003 graduate of the School of Communications in Radio, TV and Film at Rowan University, Glassboro, owns a music, commercial and corporate video production company, Electric Head LLC. He interned in New York City at MTV and in Los Angeles at the Oil Factory.

The Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. Last year, more than 10,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents were re-ceived in competition for the Telly.

Brian Tonry, formerly of Marlboro, has been named vice president of product marketing for the McGraw-Hill Con-struction Network. MHC Network provides online, integrated information solutions to find work, do work and manage business opportunities.

Tonry joined The McGraw-Hill Cos. in 1997 from Dow Jones, where he was responsible for technology and facilities procurement. Before joining McGraw-Hill Construction, he worked in The McGraw-Hill Cos.’ Shared Services organization, where he led the team responsible for implementing the Lawson Financials Accounts Payable and Purchase Order ERP solution. He joined McGraw-Hill Construction as director of business development in 2000.

Tonry resides in Robbinsville, Mercer County, with his wife and three children.

Manalapan Babies “R” Us, Route 9 south, will host a “Baby Fest” event June 11. The event is free and designed for new and expectant parents. Schoor DePalma, a Manalapan-based engineering and consulting firm, announced that Patrice Malleus, professional engineer, has been promoted to the position of principal of the firm. Malleus is a senior project manager in the firm’s Highway Department and is a registered professional engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Schoor DePalma also announced that it has hired Lisa Westerfield, vice president of business development in the firm’s Manalapan office. Her expertise encompasses new business development, consultative team selling, client relationship development, strategic partnerships, product and service marketing, and developing marketing plans.

Stephen P. Gelwarg, hospital pharmaceutical sales specialist, AstraZeneca, Manalapan, has been included in the 2006-07 edition of National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Profes-sionals.
