The artists and staff of Arc Resources Unlimited (ARU) and VSA arts of New Jersey will be celebrate the first anniversary of the collaboration of the two organizations at the Freehold Mall April 18. The festivities will begin with an open house at noon followed by a reception from 2:30- 4 p.m. at the gallery located in the Freehold Raceway Mall. The gallery’s new official name will also be revealed at the event.
Since the gallery opened April 18, 2007 the organizations have played an important part in meeting needs of artists with disabilities.
ARU has been providing employment services in the mall since its opening in 1986, assisting people who have disabilities with finding jobs reflective of their skills and talents. Support continues during training and on an as-needed basis after the person has become successfully employed.
VSA arts of New Jersey is affiliated with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Its programs are dedicated to promoting the creative power of people with disabilities.
