Marlboro Jr. Mustangs wrestlers get results

Marlboro Junior Mustang wrestlers enjoyed success on all levels this season.

The varsity went 12-0 in dual meets and won the Monmouth County League championship.

Best records went to Carl Vasti (24-5), Dan Saraiva (22-5), Jeff Goldrosen (22-4), Nick Romangnolia (21-2), Patrick Mcateer (19-5), Kevin Hayes (19-9), Nick Ottaviano (18-4), Rich Magliozzi (18-7), Dom Esposito (17-8), JacobWeiner (13-9) and Andrew Ahn (8-1).

Completing the team were Thomas Vasti, Matthew Costa, Dustin Jensen, Nick Koutzen, Bill Zembricki and Alex Schtindler.

The Jr. Mustang Seniors were 9-3 in dual meets and the league runner. The best records were forged by Chris Browere (20-2), Zach Goldrosen (22-3), Robert Kelly (19-6), Mike Triozzi (17-6), Andrew Doukas (17-9), Pete Ottaviano (16-1), Dan Saraiva (13-3), Nick Ottaviano (12-4), Jack Goldrosen (12- 5) and Lewi Attia (8-4).

Rounding out the team were Michael Moores, Kevin Hayes, Michael Martino, Eric Pitaluga, Alex Glickman, Robert Rodelo, Mike Drake and Greg Lorzing.

Michael Iuliano and Miek Hardy coached the seniors.

The program’s junior varsity produced an 11-1 regular season. Shane Mullen (22-5), Robert Cromer (18-4), Bonnie Picone (18-8), Justin Shínwald (16-4-1), Richard Picone (14-7), Andrew Ciccone (15-10), Alex Glickman (8-3), Michael Anzalone (8-3) Chris Koutzen (7-3), Ian Pierson (9-6) and Robert Gluck (8-6) had the best records this year.

Mike Dorval, David Gluck, Sam Lipton, Jack Cipas, Matthew Magliozzi, Nick Cilea, Mike Vivola, Ben Berman, J. Pelligra, B. Pelligra and Chris Owens, all wrestled for the team during the season.

Pat Macateer, Mike Moore, Joe Ciccone and Bill Zembricki coached the JV.

At the league tournament, the varsity finished third with five wrestlers making it through to the finals. Carl Vasti, who was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the tournament, was the lone Mustang winner.

Ricky Magliozzi, Nick Ottavianno, Dan Saraiva and Jeff Goldrosen were the other four wrestlers who made it to the final and finished second.

Zach Goldrosen, Chris Brower and Dan Saraiva were the Mustangs who captured championships. Goldrosen, the team captain, was the Outstanding Wrestler award winner.

Pete Ottaviano, Nick Ottaviano, Jack Goldrosen, Andrew Doukas and Robert Kelly were runner-ups for Marlboro.

Mike Triozzi and Lewai Attia finished third and Kevin Hayes and Miek Drake, fourth.
