Mr. Carney, 88, of Freehold Township died Sept. 27, 2008, at Care One at Jackson. He was born in New York and had resided in Freehold for most of his life. Mr. Carney served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the proprietor of Moore’s Inn, Freehold Township, from 1954 to 1978. He had been a coach in Freehold Little League and one of the founders of the Freehold Township Little League. Surviving are his wife, Jane Moore Carney; two sons and daughters-in-law, William M. and Robin Carney, Millstone Township and Charles J. and Kim Carney, Cream Ridge; a sister, Margaret Carney, Freehold; and four grandsons. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
