Last year, the Lions were 6-4 in dual meets and won the MET championship. At the 2004 national championships the Lions were 26th. Wagner is one of 18 letter-winners returning to the MET champs.
CNJ’s first dual meet of the season is Nov. 27 at Montclair State University starting at 6 p.m.
Jeff Estis is beginning his third season on the bench as an assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC). Estis, a Manalapan High School graduate, has been instrumental in the recruiting process at UMBC as well as player development, game scouting and academic development.
Estis began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for Jim Boehim at Syracuse University. Estis was on the staff the year the Orangemen were the NCAA runner-up to Kentucky in 1996.
Manalapan High School’s annual Alumni Football Dinner will be held on Nov. 24 in the school cafeteria, starting at 6:30 p.m.
All former Manalapan football alumni are invited to attend the dinner, which takes place the night before the traditional Thanksgiving Day game with Marlboro. The Freehold Tornado Girls Fastpitch Traveling Softball Team is holding tryouts for one position player, preferably an outfielder, and one pitcher. The Tornado looks to provide serious players with the opportunity to play high-level softball. The Tornado’s 10U team is looking for a few quality players for this newly formed team. All positions are welcomed. Marlboro Men’s Softball League has begun its registration for the 2005 season. Teams are selected by a draft of captains. There are 14 teams in the league and games are played Sundays from 9-11 a.m. over 11 innings. Fee includes league trophies, awards dinner, uniforms and USSSA umpires.
