Lecture on Vietnam Babylift set for Dec. 13

The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation will host guest lecturer Lana Noone, author of "Global Mom: Notes from a Pioneer Adoptive Family," Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Vietnam Era Educational Center in Holmdel.

In 1975, Byron and Lana Noone adopted their daughters, Heather and Jennie, from the Vietnam Babylift. Four years later, they adopted their son Jason from Korea. In her book, Noone tells how her family combined faith, insight and humor to deal with special issues such as separation anxiety, racism and helping the children connect to their heritage. Noone will display original documents, photos and memorabilia. She will also perform traditional Vietnamese music for flute. Noone is currently writing a film script based on her book.

Lecture attendees are asked to R.S.V.P. to (732) 335-0033. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.

The Vietnam Era Educational Center is located adjacent to the N.J. Vietnam Veterans Memorial off the Garden State Parkway at Exit 116. The center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular admission is free for veterans and active-duty military personnel.
