FREEHOLD — Police are looking for several suspects who are accused of accosting a pair of borough men on two separate occasions.
According to Freehold Borough police Capt. Michael DiAiso, a 25-year-old man was accosted and robbed at knifepoint by five subjects at the corner of Conover and Elm streets on Aug. 3.
The incident, which occurred at about 3:30 a.m., resulted in the arrest of Juan Garcia, 24, of Factory Street. Garcia was charged with obstruction of the administration of the law, resisting arrest and robbery.
DiAiso told the News Transcript that the victim called police from the area of the Center Deli on South Street.
When officers arrived, according to the captain, they found the victim bleeding from his left arm. The subject told police he had been attacked by five people: one white male with a muscular build; a bald black male; and three very heavyset black women.
The victim said the black male pushed him off his bicycle, then stomped on the bicycle, bending the rim. DiAiso said the victim told police the black male held a knife to his stomach and demanded that he give up all his money.
The suspect began going though the victim’s clothing and took $60 in cash from him.
DiAiso said police brought the victim back to the area where he said he was attacked, in order to pinpoint an exact location. During this time, a black male and a white male were observed walking toward the police car. The men were told to stop by police.
According to the captain, the black male fled and the white male (Garcia) was taken into custody by police. He was then taken to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township. DiAiso said the investigation of this incident is continuing.
Meanwhile, on July 27, a 29-year-old Hispanic male said he was confronted by three subjects as he was returning to his home at the Post and Coach apartments, South Street, at about 10 p.m.
DiAiso said the suspects, who the victim identified as Peruvians, confronted the victim when he reached the front of the apartments. The suspects reportedly struck the victim about the face and cut him on his back, according to the captain, who verified that the victim sustained three cuts on his back with an unidentified weapon.
The captain said the suspects reportedly fled in a green Mustang. This incident remains under investigation.
