Donations sought for hurricane victims

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the East Brunswick Youth Council is collecting items and money for individuals in the hard-hit Jersey Shore areas. The most needed items are work gloves, latex gloves, heavy-duty garbage bags, heavy-duty paper towels, diapers, baby formula, toothbrushes, new cleaning supplies, toothpaste, sponges, hairbrushes, deodorant, batteries, flashlights, jackets, warm gloves, warm hats, candles and blankets.

The youngsters also will take up a monetary collection for the American Red Cross on behalf of the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Checks should be made out to the East Brunswick Youth Council; the council will add up the donations and write one check to the American Red Cross.

All merchandise and monetary donations should be brought 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Nov. 9 to 350 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick. Collected donations will be delivered on Nov. 10.
