Man charged in Burger King
robbery remains a fugitive

EAST BRUNSWICK — Police have charged two suspects in connection with the Dec. 28 robbery of a Burger King on Route 18.

Police arrested Rosangela Tiru, 19, of Wright Place in New Brunswick Jan. 4 and charged her with robbery and conspiracy. Police allege that she drove the getaway car for a man who robbed Burger King shortly after 11 p.m. by showing a silver handgun and forcing the four employees on duty into the walk-in refrigeration unit. The male suspect took the night’s proceeds of more than $2,000 in cash from the restaurant manager’s office.

Tiru was lodged on $100,000 bail at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, police said.

The other suspect, Antwon Fosque, 27, remained a fugitive earlier this week.

Fosque, who has addresses in Neptune, Asbury Park and New Brunswick, is believed to be Tiru’s boyfriend, and is alleged to have surprised the night manager as she took out the garbage at the end of the shift.

The suspect’s face was concealed as he pointed the handgun at her, ordered her back into the restaurant and forced her and the other employees into the walk-in unit.

A number of warrants for Fosque’s arrest have been issued on charges of armed robbery, possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to East Brunswick police. If apprehended, he will be held on $200,000 bail.

Fosque, who has a Virginia driver’s license, is described as a black male, about 5 feet 7 inches and 185 pounds, with brown eyes and dark hair. He has a tattoo on his left arm. Police consider him to be armed and dangerous.

He is believed to be in the Asbury Park or New Brunswick area, police said.
