The Monroe Township Baseball Association will hold a late registration on Jan. 11 from 7-9 p.m. at the Monroe Community Center on Monmouth Road. Registration forms will be accepted with full payment of fee plus work bond fee. Initial registration fee is $75 ($55 for siblings) with a $60 work bond. There will be no raffle tickets or mandatory fund raising this year. Make checks payable to Monroe Township Baseball Association. Divisions are as follows: Buddy (5- and 6-year-olds), Farm (7- and 8-year-olds), Minor (9- and 10-year-olds), Major (11- and 12-year-olds), and Pony (13- through 15-year-olds). Uniforms will be ordered directly after registration. All late registrants will be placed on a waiting list. The township of Old Bridge’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Social Services will be sponsoring the 23rd annual Mat Rat Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 26 at Old Bridge High School East. The tournament is open to the first 400 wrestlers to preregister. Preregistration ends on Jan. 18. The Monroe U12 boys travel basketball team defeated Montgomery 48-28 on Sunday. The team was led by the strong play of Klye Horsch, Mark Gulick, Joe Costa and Frankie Carr. Horsch had 10 points and 14 rebounds Gulick 10 points and five steals. Costa had seven and points three rebounds. Carr had six points, four rebounds and two steals. Greg Moyes also played well scoring seven points and adding four steals. Mike Buffolino had four points and five rebounds, Kevin Synarski scored a basket and added four steals. Vincent Mahmoud, Dale Santiago, Colin Horsch and Matt Troncone chipped in with five points and seven rebounds. The team is 9-4 overall.

The Monroe Township Girls Soccer Association will be holding a registration for its 2002 season on Jan. 14 and 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Monroe Township Recreation Center for grades K-12. Fees are $75 for one child, $70 for a second child, $65 for a third child, and $60 for four children and up. Managers and coaches are also needed. Work bonds are not required, and previous work bonds will be deducted from registration fee. Registration may also be done online at www.leaguelineup.com/mtgsa.
The Monroe Township Soccer League will hold registrations on Jan. 24 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the township’s recreation center. Fees are $20 (ages 3 1/2 and up), $35 ages 5 and up), with a late fee of $15 after Feb. 1. Registering on time is the only way to guarantee placement on a team. Uniforms will be distributed at registration. To exchange sizes, please bring any old uniforms.
