“Fire and Ice” by Annette Margulies MONROE— Avibrant collection of paintings by artist Annette Margulies will be on view in concurrent solo exhibitions in the private studio of township resident Edy Ottesen and at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
The “Spiritual Journeys” exhibits will run from Jan. 27 through Feb. 25.
Born in Europe and trained as a classical pianist, Margulies, now of Long Branch and Orlando, found her real comfort zone when she began to study painting and, in particular, abstract painting in the U.S. Her musicality comes through in her fluid and rhythmic paintings. Margulies studied classical piano in Poland and France and as a child performed on the radio. She now laughingly admits that jazz would have been more appropriate for her because of her love for improvisation.
Those interested may arrange to see her works at either of two opening reception dates at Ottesen’s home studio at Stonebridge in Monroe. Ottesen, an artist herself, represents a select group of accomplished artists in various styles of work and mediums. Her November reception for the well-known artistH. Hargrove attracted nearly 70 guests on one afternoon.
Due to the popularity of the receptions, reservations are required. Opening receptions are scheduled for Jan. 29, 7-10 p.m.; and Jan. 30, 2-5 p.m. Private viewings also arranged. To make reservations, contact Ottesen at [email protected].
