Hightstown deserves say on bypass, too

Letter to the editor

To the editor:
As reported in The Times, "E. Windsor input on bypass sought" Feb. 20, the state Department of Transportation is getting ready to do its one-year review of the Route 133 Bypass, also known as the Hightstown Bypass.
What disturbs me about this article is the total disregard for the Hightstown community. The committee being proposed to study and make recommendations to the DOT is made up of only East Windsor representatives! Hightstown residents pay taxes just like our neighbors in East Windsor, but for some unknown reason we are again left out of a picture that effects the quality of life in Hightstown.
What I would like to know is where is our mayor? Where is our council president in this process? How is it possible that this review process even begin without Hightstown being represented?
Mayor Aughenbaugh and Mr. Vanderbeck, you know the impact of this roadway on this community. You know how the houses and businesses shake and rattle because of the excessive truck traffic through our town. You both know that roadway can and will handle truck traffic. Therefore you should not ask but demand to be part of the committee to review the impact of the Route 133 Bypass when the DOT comes to town. You owe that to your constituents.
