Residents will be treated to a day of food, folks and fun during the borough’s first Community Day beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, in Lincoln Park in the Lost Valley.
Rich Armstrong, director of the Manville Recreation Commission, said the Community Day was conceived jointly by the Manville Recreation Commission, Mayor Angelo Corradino and the Borough Council, the Manville PBA, the Manville Fire Department and the Manville Business and Professional Association.
"We wanted to give something back to the community after the rough couple of years we had," said Mr. Armstrong who indicated that the event will be free to borough residents.
Live DJ entertainment and Polynesian dancers will be among the featured entertainment for the event which will also include a wide range of games and activities for children including a moonwalk, a baseball speed pitch, basketball, miniature golf and face painting.
In addition, residents will be treated to a barbecue cookout and fireworks that evening. Residents are urged to bring their own chairs.
