Councilmen to host Trent property talk

Councilmen Rick Miller and Mark Holmes will seek public comment Monday regarding what Lawrence should do with the Trent Motel property once it buys it.
The meeting will be 6-7:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3022 on Cherry Tree Lane.
"We want to invite the neighbors to tell us what they envision for the property," Mr. Miller said Wednesday. "To proceed without consulting them would be a disservice."
The township unveiled a plan July 31 by which it would purchase the motel property, which is located on Brunswick Pike.
The township plans to tear down the motel and build affordable senior citizen housing in its place, as part of the Brunswick pIke Redevelopment Area. The area runs between Mayflower Avenue and the Brunswick Traffic Circle.
Mr. Miller and Mr. Holmes are Republican incumbants who are seeking re-election this year.
An ordinance authorizing the township to buy the motel is expected to be placed on the agenda for Township Council’s Sept. 4 meeting.
