John Drost

   MANVILLE — John Drost died Tuesday, April 9, at home. He was 73.
   He was born in Milnesville, Pa., and moved to Manville in 1951.
   Mr. Drost was employed at Johns-Manville Corp. for 34 years and was captain of the Johns-Manville Baseball Team. After retiring from Johns- Manville, he was employed by Somerset County for seven years.
   He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
   He was a member of the Manville Civil Defense Police Reserve.
   He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, a member of it’s Leisure Club, Holy Name Society, Choir and the bowling team; and worked at St. Mary’s Byzantine Church bingo on Wednesday and Saturdays.
   He is predeceased by his mother Mary (Evancho) Drozda, father Cyril Michael Drozda; and three sisters, Mary Hall, Helen Ledgeski and Anna Dusick.
   Survivors include his wife, Martha (Havrilla) Drost; three daughters, Mary Annette Strenko of Manville, Lisa Miller of Bridgewater and Michele Fry of Manville; a son, John Drost of Manville; five grandchildren; one great- grandchild; two sisters, Margaret Benyo of Hazelton, Pa., and Irene Weber of Pittsburgh, Pa; two brothers, George of Milnesville and Michael of Hazelton.
   Funeral services were conducted April 11, at Bongiovi Funeral Home, Raritan, followed by a funeral liturgy in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
