The district has received a grant from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation to enable teachers to enhance the curriculum.
The district applied for the $66,300 grant last fall as part of staff development efforts with Grant Wiggins from the "Re: Learning By Design" organization in coordination with the New Jersey Curriculum Initiative.
Teachers will use the grant to work in teams with college professors to explore unit design and lesson study, according to a press release from the district.
She said the district expects to train 200 teachers who will meet and discuss important issues of teaching and learning. Teachers also will use the grant to develop 25 high-quality curriculum units for all subject areas.
"We are proud to receive this grant award from the Dodge Foundation and to be recognized for the value of the work teachers do in our district," said Superintendent Sam Stewart.
