Martha A. Gerhard
   Martha A. Gerhard, 99, of Neshanic died Tuesday at Foothill Acres Nursing Facility, Neshanic.
   Born June 30, 1904 in Elizabeth to Anna Pectold and Arthur Dittman, she attended Bayonne High School and later worked for White Rock Beverage Company and Maryland Casualty Insurance Company in New York City before moving to Hopewell with her parents.
   She married the late Louie Gerhard in 1931. For 35 years, the Gerhards owned and operated the former Eagle Bakery in the building that now houses Vincenzo’s Pizza. They also operated other businesses in Hopewell, including a grocery store in what is now the Sunoco Service station on East Broad Street.
   A former trustee of and volunteer for the Hopewell Museum, she also was a member of the Hopewell Fire Department Woman’s Auxiliary for many years and a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church since 1935.
   In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gerhard was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur O. Dittman. She is survived by a niece, Judith Davis of Gibsonburg, Ohio; a nephew, Rob Dittman of Delray Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mike and Nancy Vanatta of Hopewell.
   Services are private.
   Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Hopewell Museum, East Broad Street, Hopewell, 08525, or the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Hopewell Fire Department, 4 Columbia Ave., Hopewell, 08525.
   Arrangements are under the direction of the Cromwell-Immordino Memorial Home, 71 E. Prospect St., Hopewell.
John E. Wigley
   John E. "Jack" Wigley, 77, of Titusville died Wednesday at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
   Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Trenton High School and attended the Modern School of Photography in New York City and Temple University.
   A metallurgist for US Steel for 34 years, he was a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge #50 F&AM for over 50 years and a charter member of the Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Ewing. In the mid 1960s he was instrumental in early stages of the planning and building of the chapel. He was on the planning committee and also was past president of the church counsel.
   He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, receiving the American Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
   Son of the late Thomas E. and Emily Wigley, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Louise Palmer Wigley; two daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn Werts of Yardville and Karen and Mike Brzoska of Pennington; a sister and brother-in-law, Adele and Theodore Palmer of Ridgefield, Conn.; three grandchildren Michael and Megan Wertz and Amanda Brzoska; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, 2220 Pennington Road, Ewing, with the Rev. Daniel Whitener pastor officiating.
   
   Burial will be in Harbourton Cemetery, Harbourton.
   Calling hour is from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
