Ella Louise Brown

   MILLSTONE — Ella Louise Brown, 91, died Feb. 1 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
   Born in Hastings, Fla., she lived in Millstone for 65 years.
   She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Freehold and an active member of its Usher Board, Golden Age and kitchen committees.
   Mother of the late Obadiah E. Brown, she is survived by her daughter, Ruth A. Warren of Bowie, Md.; three sisters, Dorothy Crippen of Lakewood, Bernice Brown of Trenton and Willimea Hughes of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Lisa Galloway, Torna Brown-Harris and Toran Brown; and three great-grandchildren.
   Funeral was held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold, under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
   Interment was in the Allentown Methodist Church cemetery.
Albert H. Arndt

   HAMILTON — Albert "Bill" Arndt, 85, died Feb. 5 at the University Medical Center in Princeton.
   Born in Philadelphia, he was a resident of Robbinsville for most of his life.
   A World War II Army veteran, he owned and operated Edelweiss Gardens in Robbinsville for over 50 years and enjoyed growing orchids and exotic plants.
   Bill is survived by his wife, Helen Arndt; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Joan Arndt of Italy, Gilbert and Karen Dilts of Cream Ridge and Kenneth and Mary Dilts of Robbinsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Pat Gagnon of Allentown; a cousin and his wife, Donald Lee and Pat Yotty of Cedar Hill, Mo; and 11 grandchildren.A memorial service was held at the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
   Cremation will be private.

Paul M. Finkel Sr.

   ALLENTOWN — Paul M. Finkel Sr., 76, died Feb. 5 at home.
   Born in Northern Bergen, he lived in Allentown for 25 years.
   He was a contractor for 38 years, retiring in 1994.
   An Army veteran of WWII, he loved fishing and gardening.
   He is survived by his wife, Ena Finkel; two sons, Paul M. Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and William C. of Palmerton, Pa.; three daughters, Jean Fingermann of Barnegat, Linda Lee Mahoney and Diana Spaeth, both of Manahawkin; two brothers, Joseph and John Finkel; five sisters, Betty Bakarich, Theresa Spaeth, Ann Paras, Mary Ferra and Joanne Buffa; three step-children, Jacqueline Beamer, Kimberly Tunney and Kevin Frech, all of Bordentown; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Scotty, Alexis and Shane Finkel, Shannon and Jenna Mahoney, Catrina, Kyle and Courtney Spaeth and Amanda beamer.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John’s Church, Allentown.
   Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
   Cremation was private.
Bruce William Smith

   PENNINGTON — Bruce William Smith, 77, died Feb. 1.
   Born in St. Louis, Mo., he lived most of his life in Ewing.
   Mr. Smith was a retired salesman from the Trenton Tobacco Company in Ewing.
   He was a member of The Church of the Incarnation.
   Mr. Smith served with the U.S. Maritime Service (Merchant Marines) in World War II.
   He was signed at the age of 16 by the St. Louis Cardinals and played for 10 years in the minor league farm system and was known as "Hubba-Hubba" Smith in the Interstate League.
   Mr. Smith was an avid golfer and loved to take trips to Atlantic City.
   Son of the late Dewey Smith and Caroline Keitel Smith and brother of the late Larry and Dewey Smith Jr., he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Brennen Smith; five children and their spouses, Lance and Diana Smith of Lawrence, Todd and Laurie Smith of Robbinsville, Holly and William Hoagland of Pennington, Ivy and David McCreedy of Robbinsville and Heather and Edward Winsor; 14 grandchildren, Rob and Ryan Hoagland, Blaine Climati, Jordan McCreedy, Jason, Chelsea, Jared, Katie, Aubrey, Rachael and Taylor Smith, and Whitney, Logan and Maguire Winsor; a sister, Mildred Quade; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marguerite and Calvin Leish; a special nephew, Frank Corrado; a special niece; Patti Rae Eckmann; and several other nieces and nephews.
   Funeral was held at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrenceville.
   Burial was in Ewing Church Cemetery.
Charlotte D. Bell

   WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — Charlotte D. Bell, 78, died Feb. 5.
   Born in Jersey City, she was a graduate of Abraham Clark High School in Roselle and resided in Roselle until 1967. Since that time, she lived primarily in Robbinsville, Turnersville and Sewell.
   She was an assistant production manager for Chilton Books in Philadelphia and previously worked for Quinn & Boden Co. of Rahway. She also was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II.
   She is survived by three sons and their wives, Donald William and Maureen Woodruff of Yorktown, Va., Ronald Rudolph and Julie Woodruff of Lake Oswego, Ore.; and Wayne Elliott Woodruff of Runnemede; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and cousins, Theresa and Albert Schmidt of Monroe Township and Mary and Robert Schmidt of Chester Springs, Pa.
   Cremation was private with interment at a later date at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth.

Dolores Iesta

Troxell

   BURLINGTON — Dolores Iesta Troxell, 84, died Feb. 6 at the Burlington Woods Nursing Home, Burlington.
   Born in Groveville, Mrs. Troxell lived there for more than 50 years before moving to Plumsted and then to Burlington.
   She was a member of the Groveville United Methodist Church and its Christian Women’s Group. She was a also a member of the Burlington City Historical Society.
   Daughter of the late Albert J. and Mary Etta (Cliver) Simpson Jr., sister of the late Robert G. Simpson and mother of the late William R. Straley II, she is survived by her husband, Samuel W. Troxell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen A. Straley of Hamilton and Jeanette "Nettie" and Reade Holzbaur of New Egypt; a daughter-in-law, Sonia Straley of Yardville; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Cutty Cutright of Groveville; a granddaughter and her husband, Kristen and Michael Douglass of Austin, Texas; a grandson and his wife, Matthew and Elisa Holzbaur of Hainesport; a great-granddaughter, Kaelie J. Douglass; and a niece and a nephew.
   Funeral will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, with the Rev. Linda Hofacker, pastor of the Groveville United Methodist Church, officiating.
   Interment will follow at the Groveville United Methodist Church cemetery, Groveville.

Patricia Elizabeth

Sweeney

   Patricia Elizabeth Sweeney, 68, of Allentown died Saturday at the Pavilions at Forrestal in Princeton.
   Born in Glendale, N.Y., she resided there until moving to Long Beach Island in 1979 and then to Allentown in 2001.
   She was a retired employee of the township of Long Beach.
   Ms. Sweeney was a member of the St. Pancras Roman Catholic Church in Glendale.
   Daughter of the late Michael John and Anna Marie (Anderson) Sweeney, she is survived by a daughter, Patricia Nolan of Beach Haven; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Susan Nolan of Allentown; a sister, Marie McDonald of Tuckerton; three brothers, Michael Sweeney of Milford, Conn., Jack Sweeney of Brentwood, N.Y., and Bill Sweeney of Greenlawn, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Connor, Thomas, Joseph, Anna Mae, Kaleigh and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews.
   A graveside service was held Wednesday afternoon at at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, N.Y.
   A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assist, Brant Beach.
