(Open letter to Major Gen. Dennis Via, members of the Armed Services, administrators and employees of Fort Monmouth)
What a wonderful display of democracy, thanksgiving and camaraderie at its finest at Fort Monmouth’s 90th anniversary celebration Nov. 8. To give so much to the community when it is the community who owes you is a true measure of America at its most noble.
May the flat of freedom and fellowship continue to wave over the fort, who stand ready to defend us and to celebrate us, when it is indeed we who should be celebrating you.
Thank you for a beautiful day, but even more for a gesture that forever marks the fort as a true citizen of Monmouth County and America.
May you remain in our midst and at the helm of operations for many more years, a true star in the firmament of valor and loyalty.
Mary Pat Hollenbach
