Hypocrisy on ethics

To the editor:
Thursday was a sad day for New Jersey. After 11 more elected officials were arrested, I am ashamed that our state is facing one investigation after another.
The ethics scandals are even reaching into our own backyard. As a candidate for Senate in the 14th District, Seema Singh claims to be running a clean campaign. However, she refuses to comment on an alleged an ethics investigation by the State Ethics Commission.
Shewants to represent us in the Senate, but how can we trust her to make thingsany better when she refuses to even own up to being under investigationherself?
Furthermore, Ms. Singh’s running mate, Linda Greenstein, has said that she thinks indicted officials should resign from office while they focus on their legal issues. How then can Ms. Greenstein — who claims to support ethics reform — run alongside Seema Singh?
Ms. Greenstein should call on Ms. Singh to focus on the ethics investigation she allegedly is facing and admit being under investigation. Until then, Ms. Greenstein has lost her credibility as a reformer.
