The complete list of all of the broken laws, violations of ethics and morality, and overall sins against the community of Hillsborough committed by our very own elected officials and their political cronies, would fill the entire newspaper. This letter is the first installment to provide the public with the truth, the clear picture, and the facts surrounding what can only be summed up as massive voter fraud.
The political power-brokers that would lose a lot of their political clout and so their ability to continue to abuse the taxpayers, set up a fake citizens group called Residents Against Larger Government (RALG). That group was comprised entirely of political appointees who were already or have since received positions on township boards and committees and it is perfectly transparent that they were working for the politicians and not for the people.
Whereas the voters of Hillsborough voted for a Charter Study Commission that spent nine months conducting research and interviews before making a recommendation to the voters that would benefit all of Hillsborough by making our government more responsible to the voters and at the same time make the government more efficient and so less costly, RALG and our elected officials lied repeatedly to scare the voters into believing what is nowhere near to the truth.
RALG violated election law, violated the copyright protections of the newspapers by falsely portraying their positions, and to fully manipulate the 80 percent of the voters who did not read the newspapers or watch the taped meetings of the Charter Study Commission, they spent over $20,000 to place their lies in the mailboxes of every voting household in town.
RALG lied in every critical aspect of the issue. They lied by saying the new form of government would be the most expensive, that taxes would go up, that it was the biggest and most expensive government possible and that separate and additional staff would be required.
They lied when they claimed that the final report of the commission supported their false claims, that Rutgers research proved spending and taxes go up, that numerous township projects like the senior center and railroad quiet crossings would be at risk, and that there was a predetermined bias or hidden agenda by members of the Charter Study Commission.
All of that is patently false. Like the scare tactic in 2005 by the local politicians in fake group Residents Against Wards (RAW) claiming that a change in government would cost $700,000, not one shred of evidence for their lies can be found. While those without benefit of following the actual commission proceedings — those without the real facts — could be misled by these lies, in the clear and bright light of day it’s painfully obvious. The voters were lied to as they are in third world dictatorships where the media is controlled by the tyrants.
The voters were maliciously lied to and manipulated by the very people who have sworn and oath to obey the law and to serve the public.
