As 2008 approaches its close, municipalities are preparing to reorganize for the next year.
Bordentown Township will hold its reorganization meeting at noon Saturday, Jan. 3, in the courtroom of the municipal building on Municipal Drive. Incumbent Republican Mayor Bruce Hill and newcomer Democrat Jason Medina are expected to be sworn into three-year seats on the Township Committee and Democrat James Cann to a one-year unexpired term.
Chesterfield will reorganize at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the municipal building, 300 Bordentown-Chesterfield Road. Incumbent Republican Mayor Lawrence Durr will be sworn in to another three-year seat on the Township Committee.
In Fieldsboro, the meeting will occur at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the borough hall, 204 Washington St. In the most recent election, incumbents Democrats David Hansell and Harry retained their three-year seats on the Borough Council and will be sworn in at that time.
Florence held no municipal races this year, but Chief of Police Stephen Fazekas will be sworn in when the township reorganizes Wednesday, Jan. 7. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of the municipal complex, 711 Broad St.
Mansfield will hold its reorganization meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in the meeting room of the municipal complex, 24548 E. Main St. Republican incumbents Kenneth Denti and Mayor Arthur Puglia will be sworn in to three-year terms on the Township Committee.
New Hanover’s meeting will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, in the courtroom of the municipal building, 2 Hockamick Road. Republicans George Ivins and Peter Peterla will be sworn in to another three-year term on the Township Committee.
North Hanover will reorganize at noon Jan. 1 in the main meeting room of the municipal building, 41 Schoolhouse Road. Republican Lou DeLorenzo will be sworn into another three-year term on the Township Committee. After the meeting, residents are invited to a free community luncheon.
Springfield’s reorganization meeting will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, in the township municipal building, 2159 Jacksonville-Jobstown Road. Two Republicans, incumbent David Frank and committee newcomer John Hlubik, will be sworn in for four-year seats on the Township Council.
