Turkeys from Griggstown offered at Land Trust farmers market

On Sunday, place an order and get it Nov. 22

The regular Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers Market regular season ends on Sunday, but the farmers will be back again on Nov. 22 so shoppers can stock up for Thanksgiving or for the long, cold winter.
As always, the Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
On Sunday, one can place an order for a fresh, all-natural, free-range turkey from Griggstown Market and pick it up at the Nov. 22 market.
The Griggstown Quail Farm offers two types of turkey, according to Chef Matthew Sytsema, “The white turkey is a traditional breed that most individuals are familiar with. The Red Bourbon turkey is a heritage bird that has not been crossbred to enhance its size. The Red Bourbon is a smaller, leaner bird with darker meat, but there is still enough white meat to satisfy everyone.”
Those who cannot visit the market this Sunday can place orders by calling Griggstown Market at 908-359-5218 and tell them of plans to pick up turkeys at the special holiday Farmers Market Nov. 22.
In addition to turkey, Griggstown Market will sell fresh pies, soups and gravy at the special holiday farmers’ market. Other vendors participating in the Farmers Market on Nov. 22 include Phillips’ Farm, with a large selection of produce and flowers, and Comeback Farm selling organic produce. Highland Gourmet will offer their grass feed beef, sweet pies, and large cookies. Milford Farms will sell all-natural beef and pork. Readington River Buffalo Farm will be selling “America’s original red meat,” including buffalo burgers, steaks and sausage.
”Support your local farmers and get some really great gifts by shopping at the Farmers Market,” said Margaret Waldock, Hunterdon Land Trust executive director.
A variety of local honey and beeswax products, including candles, spreads, and soaps, will be available from Tassot Apiaries. Soft and warm blankets, hats, scarves, socks, yarns, etc. made from llama and alpaca fiber will be offered by WoodsEdge Wools Farm.
The Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers Market is sponsored by Stem Brothers Inc., Team Capital Bank and Raritan Valley Disposal and Recycling. Live music at the weekly market is sponsored by Dave Phillips Music and Sound, and Matt’s Red Rooster Grill.
The Hunterdon Land Trust is Hunterdon County, New Jersey’s only countywide land trust.
