Adult school under way in Stockton

   The Stockton Elementary School made history on Jan. 19 with the start of its Learners Welcome evening school for adults.
   All adults are welcome to participate in Learners Welcome: A New Community of Learning for Adults.
   Instructors are donating their services and 100 percent of the costs of classes will go the Stockton Elementary School PTO. To see the fee schedule for the classes, visit: www.stocktonschool.us.
   The Stockton PTO offers programs to its elementary students. These include Mandarin Chinese, guitar lessons and karate classes.
   Upcoming classes with open seats include: Setting Free the Book in You, Tax Help for Senior Citizens, Tax Tips and Changes in Tax Law, You’re a Poet, and You Know It.
   Setting Free the Book in You is for those interested in learning about Options and the Process of Publishing. It will meet on Feb. 8.
   Tax Help for Senior Citizens will be offered on Feb. 15.
   Tax Tips and Changes in Tax Law will gather on Feb. 22.
   You’re A Poet, and You Know It is an introduction to writing poetry and will gather on March 2, 9 and 16.
   Classes will gather from 7-8 p.m. at the Stockton Elementary School, 19 S. Main St., Stockton.

   — Michael Torrey is the president and owner of Smart Business Services, Inc. providing accounting, bookkeeping and tax return preparation and consulting services to individuals and small business.
