County’s ice skating rink opens for 13th season

Middlesex County’s popular Roosevelt Park Family Ice Skating Rink opened for its 13th season on Nov. 20.

The rink is located at the Level Playing Fields Complex inside the county’s Roosevelt Park, which is adjacent to Menlo Park Mall in Edison.

Accredited group and private lessons are available. The rink is available for birthday parties and private events. Call 732-494-3785 for information and reservations.

They also offer skate rentals with sizes ranging from toddler 8 to adult size 15, skate sharpening and locker rentals.

Hours of operation are Wednesdays through Fridays from 5-9 p.m.; Saturdays and holidays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (session 1); 2-5 p.m. (session 2), and 6-9 p.m. (session 3); and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m., (session 1) and 4-7 p.m. (session 2).

“The ice skating rink is one of our most unique recreational facilities and is fun for the entire family,” said Freeholder Charles E. Tomaro, chairman of the County’s Infrastructure Management Committee.

“The county has consistently and successfully modernized our parks throughout the years so that they incorporate the latest in park design and offer the best recreational opportunities for our residents,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “Last winter this beautiful outdoor facility accommodated more than 12,000 skaters.”

The rink is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Per session admission is $6 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and children 17 and under. Discounts are available for multi-session passes and groups. Skate rental is available for $5 a session and helmets are for sale.

Visit the Skate Zone Café food concession, which offers a variety of hot and cold drinks and snacks, including chicken nuggets, hamburgers, pizza, mozzarella sticks and grilled cheese sandwiches.
