An Afternoon of Art at Farmstead Arts

By Mary Jane Walsh
Farmstead Arts Center and the Contemporary Art Group offer a hands-on demonstration, an instructive tour and talks with artists Saturday, Nov. 16 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Farmstead, 450 King George Road in Basking Ridge.
This special, free event is part of the current exhibition, which runs every Saturday and Sunday until Nov. 17. “An Afternoon of Art” on Nov. 16th is designed for those aged 8 to 100 years and requires no art experience, just curiosity and readiness for fun.
Joy Ann Cabones Lara will speak about dance and paintings; artist Gail Winbury will discuss abstract art as visitors tour the exhibition; and Renee Post will describe her evolution as an artist and her two paintings in the exhibition.
After the presentations Cynthia Weiss will demonstrate how to create a trace monotype. Known as transfer drawing, trace monotype is a simple printmaking technique.
