MANVILLE: Rescue squad’s decorated rig wins at parade

Manville Rescue Squad decorated its emergency vehicles for the Somerville Holiday Parade on Dec. 7.
The Manville entry was awarded first place for best appearing rescue truck at the parade, where fire and emergency equipment is draped with lights.
The two-hour parade was organized and directed by the Somerville Fire Department. The second annual parade started on Main Street in Somerville and went through commercial and residential areas in that borough.
Prizes were given for the best decorated fire and emergency vehicles, personal floats and vehicle, and best decorated houses and businesses along the parade route.
During the time that Manville members participated in the event there was still an EMS crew staffing an ambulance in the Manville station, said Chief David Kohler Jr.
