Mon., May 12
Recently appointed South Brunswick Superintendent of Schools Jerry Jellig will visit the district for the purpose of meeting the community. The event will take place in the Crossroads North Middle School Cafeteria, 635 Georges Road, Monmouth Junction, from 7 – 8:00 p.m. All are invited to attend. Dr. Jellig’s appointment as superintendent begins on July 1.

The Monroe Medical supply at 12 p.m. will be conducting an Ambulatory Clinic for Manual Wheelchair, Walker and Canes held at the South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. Anyone who has one of the following: Manual Wheelchair, Standard Folding Walker of 4-Wheel Walker or any type of cane are encouraged to bring them to the clinic. The Monthly Veterans Group from 10:30 -11:45 a.m. held at the South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522, will hear Vietnam veteran Joseph M. Belardo Sr. discuss his experiences during his military days and the project he is currently involved with through the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. He has received various combat medals, has authored and published two books based on his experiences and appeared on television documentaries. Open to South Brunswick residents 55+ only. Two workshops aimed at creating pollinator-friendly habitats will be held at the EARTH Center located in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick. Pre-registration is required by calling 732-398-5262: A Beginner Beekeeping program will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. The lecture will be followed by a brief walk outside, weather permitting. This workshop is free with advance registration. No “walk-ins” will be permitted. The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will hold a free walking tour of the canal park between Griggstown and the Kingston Lock, a distance of 5 miles. A shorter 3.1-mile walk will also be available. Meet 10 a.m. at the Kingston Lock, located off Route 27 north of River Road and south of Kingston. Carpools will be arranged to allow a one-way walk. Annual Plant Exchange & Bake Sale Fundraiser sponsored by the Dayton Village Citizen’s Coalition and South Brunswick Garden Club will take place on from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Slack Carroll House, 354 Georges Road, Dayton. Available for sale or exchange will be perennials, shrubs, vines, and annuals. You may buy, barter, exchange, donate or adopt a plant. Lots of home baked pies, cakes, breads & cookies at the bake sale, too.

”Hearing Loss: What You Need to Know” a lecture and hearing screenings 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. Dr. Karen E. Vardaro will discuss the types of hearing and how to recognize if you are experiencing hearing loss. She will conduct preliminary hearing loss exams by appointment. The Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township holds its first Foundation Cup Golf Outing at Bunker Hill Golf Course. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s “Tee Off for EDUCATION” will support South Brunswick High School’s Project Graduation campaign. Cost: 125 per player, with foursomes available for $480. The outing will begin with registration at 6:30 a.m. and a 7:30 a.m. “Shotgun Tee Off”. All South Brunswick seniors 55+ are invited to the Office On Aging’s monthly birthday luncheon at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center. Call the office by May 20 to sign up. A special menu will be served followed by birthday cake. During your celebration there will be games and trivia for all. This event is open to senior residents 55+.
