HILLSBOROUGH: Veterans can be honored on field as ‘true Patriots’

An on-field ceremony during every Somerset Patriots home game this season will honor men and women who have served the country in the military.
The “True Patriot” program, run by the baseball team and its partner AT&T, gives veterans a chance to come to any of the 70 home games in Bridgewater with family and friends and be recognized on the field during the first inning. The ceremony includes a description of the veteran’s service to the country, with Patriots Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle at their side.
“We always love honoring our veterans and showing them how much we appreciate their service to our country. It’s important to remember the sacrifices these men and women and their families have made so that we can be free. We are proud to team up with our great partners at AT&T to recognize our veterans and thank them at the ballpark,” said Patrick McVerry, president and general manager of the Patriots.
Any veteran who wants to participate, or any family or friend who wants to set up a date to honor a veteran, should contact Marc Russinoff, vice president of public relations, at 908-252-7000, ext. 215, or [email protected].
