Sat., Sept. 6 — Manville-Hillsborough Elks 2119 will host annual clam bake and barbecue, 1-5 p.m., at the lodge, 1500 Brooks Blvd., Hillsborough. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 7.
Admission $35 in advance, $40 at door per adult and $15 for youngsters aged 10-17; children under 10 are free. Call lodge at 908-725-1717 to arrange for tickets.
Day includes music, door prizes, tricky tray and children’s activities. Food will include barbecue fare and clams.

Sourland will challenge bicyclists
Sat., Sept. 6 — "Sourland Spectacular" bicycle rally with challenging routes for serious cyclists, and shorter alternatives for casual riders. Routes of 23 to 63 miles all include significant climbs.
Routes begin and end at the Otto Kaufman Community Center on Skillman Road. Park across the street at Montgomery High School.
Following the morning rides, bikers will return to the starting point for a gourmet picnic lunch, with brownie sundaes for dessert.
Proceeds benefit the non-profit Sourland Conservancy. Fee is $40 per person, with discounts for early registration. Fee for ages 12 to 16 is $20. For registration and information, visit www.Sourland.org/spectacular.
Flea market benefits fire auxiliary
Sat., Sept. 6 and 20 — Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Fire Auxiliary will hold an outdoor flea market at 375 Route 206, next to Hillsborough Radiology. The market is behind the firehouse in the parking lot off Hamilton Road. Parking is on the grass behind the firehouse and in the upper parking lot. No parking at Hillsborough Radiology.

Flapjack meal helps youth sports
Sun. Broadway stars shine at theater night
Mon., Sept. 8 — Hillsborough High School Theatre presents its opening night concert, 7 p.m., in auditorium of school at 466 Raider Blvd., Broadway stars come to celebrate announcement of 2014-15 theater season. Wed., Sept. 11 — Jewish Family Service hosts free support groups for job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change.

Garden Club to reflect on its 85 years
Thursday, Sept. 18 — The Neshanic Garden Club will celebrate the start of its 85th year by reflecting on its role in the community and sharing memories at its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Harlingen Reformed Church, Route 206 and Harlingen Road in Belle Mead. Cub Scouts kick off year with movie
Fri., Sept. 19 — Cub Scout Pack 1776 will hold a movie night at 7:30 at the Romano farm at 8 Poplar Road. Woman’s Club holds basket auction
Fri., Sept. 26 — Doors open at 6 p.m. for the Woman’s Club of Hillsborough’s annual basket auction at the township municipal building on South Branch Road. Entrance tickets are $10 and include door and grand prize tickets. Value packs at $20 include two sheets of tickets and a grand prize ticket, a total $27 value. Individual tickets are $12.
