The Middlesex/Somerset Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) will present “Six (6) Steps to a Better Business” Jan. 23 from 5-7:30 p.m. Presenter will be Lisa Teach, recipient of the Management Excellence Award, and Andrew J. Rider Scholar Award. The event will feature networking, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. It will be at Somerset Ramada Inn, 60 Cottontail Lane, Somerset. Kim Spinelli, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, recently received a $1,000 honorable mention prize from The Cooper Center for In-Vitro Fertilization, Marlton. Spinelli — a patient at the center — received the prize for her entry in Ferring Pharmaceuticals’ “My Little Miracle” essay contest. Her essay, “Worth the Wait,” the birth of the Spinelli’s twins, Marc Nicholas and Samantha Kathryn, 2, following the couple’s struggle with infertility. The Cooper Center is affiliated with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden.
Kenneth Vercammen, South Brunswick, was recently named Municipal Court Practitioner of the Year 2005-06 by the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Municipal Court Practice Section at a ceremony in early December. Vercammen operates the law offices of Kenneth Vercammen & Associates, PC, Edison and Cranbury. The award honored his activities in informing and educating the public about the legal system, in encouraging and promoting reform and modernization, in improving the relationship between the legal profession and the public, in exemplifying the goals and purposes of the Practice Section, and for service to the residents of New Jersey. A NJSBA member for 18 years, Vercammen is a past chair of the practice section and serves on the board of directors of the General Practice Section. He is a trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Association, and co-chair of its Municipal Court Practice Committee. Active in the American Bar Association (ABA), he lectures on marketing at meetings nationwide for the ABA, and has published more than 130 articles in national and state publications on various legal issues. He is also editor-in-chief of the New Jersey Municipal Court Law Review.
Reformed Church Home, 1990 Route 18, Old Bridge, recently received a “Deficiency-free Survey” from the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services.
Surveys were conducted in April and August, and the Church Home was declared in compliance with New Jersey State regulations. The review covers areas such as resident rights, resident quality of life, and resident assessment. The surveys were conducted at New Jersey facilities and recognize excellence in quality of care.
