The Florence Republican Club is hosting a fall dinner on Friday, Oct. 17 in the Roebling Room of Bungs Tavern on Route 130 in Florence. Tickets cost $25. Join the Traveling Seniors of Florence for a "Hollywood Christmas Show" on Monday, Dec. 8 at the Tropicana casino in Atlantic City. Trinty United Methodist Church/Awaken School of Performing Arts provides individualized music instruction, music theory, children music workshop, a band workshop and more. The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department and the Florence Township Police Department are teaming up to form the Youth Police Academy Class 60 during sessions from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 4, Oct. 11 and Oct. 18 at the Florence Township Fraternal Order of Police Lodge Fireman’s Hall at 69 Main St. in Roebling. The academy is for children ages 7-12 and will include a K-9 demonstration, gun safety, police familiarization, cultural diversity, fire safety and more. To register, call 609-265-3788.

A free home security program for seniors age 60 and over is being offered by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. Crime prevention specialists will install door locks, window locks and peepholes and will make sure homes have carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors and emergency interior lights.
