Michael Chapman, 33, of Trenton, was charged with hindering apprehension and possession of a hypodermic syringe in connection with an incident at the Sleep-E-Hollow Motel on Brunswick Pike at 12:25 a.m. Nov. 7.
Jamie Michels, 37, of Hamilton, was charged with obstruction of the administration of law and justice, improper behavior and resisting arrest in connection with the same incident.
Police were called for a report of a man who did not pay his cab fare, police Lt. Joseph Amodio said. He told the driver he had no money for the fare and that his friend had it in the motel room. He went inside and did not come out.
Police knocked on the door and Mr. Chapman gave police a false name, Lt. Amodio said. He was found to have outstanding warrants. During a search incident to his arrest, he was found to have a hypodermic syringe in his possession. He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $1,000 bail.
Ms. Michel was charged after she began arguing and impeded the investigation, Lt. Amodio said. She was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $1,250 bail with the 10-percent option, and released after posting bail.
