Shaka Burrito and Salvation Army Say Alo-Ho-Ho-Ho-Ha! with Holiday Toy Drive

By Chris Caldwell
Shaka Burrito has teamed up with the Salvation Army New Brunswick Corps to sponsor a toy drive for the area’s underserved children this holiday season. Both Shaka and the Salvation Army share a commitment to spreading good vibes, particularly around this time of year, and ensuring that as many children as possible have a present to open during the holidays. “Many of these children are right in our own community. They are our neighbors and deserve to have the best holiday possible,” says Shaka Burrito Director of Operations Michael Norris. “We’d like to thank the Salvation Army for partnering with us in this effort.”
Interested donors can drop off unwrapped and unopened toys to the Salvation Army box at Shaka Burrito’s New Brunswick location (120 Albany St. New Brunswick, NJ 08901) from now until December 17th. All donors will receive 10% off their food order at Shaka Burrito that day. Stop in with a toy and sample some of the freshest food in New Brunswick. According to Advocates for Children of New Jersey, an estimated 14% of Middlesex County’s children live in Poverty. Shaka Burrito and the Salvation Army New Brunswick Corps encourage all who are able to make this holiday a little brighter for them.

About the Salvation Army New Brunswick Corps
In 1882 the New Brunswick Corps was commissioned as the seventh Corps in the United States. The New Brunswick Corps service area includes: Adams, East Brunswick, Farmington, Highland Park, Milltown, New Brunswick and North Brunswick. A significant increase in persons seeking assistance is noticeable and comparable to the population growth within this area. There has been a large influx of non-English speaking families to which The Salvation Army has provided a helping hand meeting basic needs such as food, rental, utility and medical assistance. As it has done for more than a century The Salvation Army has kept pace and continues to play an essential role in the lives of area residents fulfilling its national promise of “Doing the Most Good.”  http://newjersey.salvationarmy.org/NewJersey/newbrunswick
