In the wake of reports of a food handler at a Hamilton Township eatery who contracted Hepatitis A, Lawrence Township residents who ate at Rosa’s Restaurant and Catering between Nov. 10 and Dec. 1 are advised to contact their primary care physician to inform the doctor of their possible exposure and to discuss post-exposure vaccination options.
While the risk of contracting Hepatitis A is not very high, out of an abundance of caution, the New Jersey Department of Health is recommending that patrons of the restaurant be notified of a possible exposure and that post-exposure vaccination — either Hepatitis A vaccine or immune globulin — be offered to those at risk.
Post-exposure vaccination is likely to be most effective if given within two weeks of exposure. Rosa’s Restaurant and Catering also provides catering to various locations and facilities, in addition to in-restaurant dining.
Lawrence residents in need of additional information or assistance can call the Lawrence Township Health Department at 609-844-7094. Resource information also is available at http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/A/index.htm.
