PRINCETON: Former university student pleads guilty on drug charges

By Philip Sean Curran, Staff Writer
Princeton – A now former Princeton University student busted earlier this year on drug charges pleaded guilty last week to possession of LSD with intent to distribute.
Julian Edgren, 21, of Princeton, faces a five-year-prison term at his sentencing Aug. 20, this for pleading guilty to a second-degree offense in connection to being arrested on campus in January with $2,875 worth of drugs.
Authorities arrested him Jan.6 after he picked up ecstasy and psilocybin mailed to him at the Frist Campus Center. At the time of his arrest, he was found with a duffel bag containing liquid LSD, 55 grams of marijuana, five grams of hashish, 60 Adderall pills, a computer, two digital scales and $400, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.
A search of his dorm room in Edward Hall uncovered more psilocybin, marijuana cookies and “assorted drug paraphernalia,” the prosecutor’s office said at the time.
Mr. Edgren is free on bail pending his sentencing. He likely will not serve anywhere close to the five years, as he will apply to a special probation program, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Monday.
His lawyer, Brian Neary, could not be reached for comment.
Mr. Edgren was a member of the class of 2016, but he is no longer listed on the student directory on the university website.
“He’s not currently enrolled as a student,” university spokesman Martin A. Mbugua said Tuesday.
