Vendors are wanted for the Hillsborough Library’s third annual Small Business Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
This is an opportunity for small businesses in Somerset County to introduce their products and services to the community, as well as network with a variety of new businesses. To be considered as a vendor at the event, fill out the application at http://tinyurl.com/HILSBE by Thursday, Sept. 3.

The Reading Buddy program for grades 1-4 will restart Sat., Sept. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. This program is designed to help young readers increase their love of reading while reading aloud with teen volunteers. Each child will be given a 15-minute time slot. Reading Buddy will be offered on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. Stop by or call the Children’s Desk to sign up for a session.
The library is looking for teens in grades 8-12 to volunteer as a reading buddy. The first session is on Sat., Sept. 12, from 1:50 p.m. to 4 p.m. Teens should have social skills and previous experience with children. Volunteers will earn community service hours for attendance.
Hillsborough’s library will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day. It will be closed on Sundays until Sept. 13.

Writers’ group: Monthly meeting of the Hillsborough Library Writers’ Group is Thurs., Aug. 27, at 7 p.m.
Book discussion: The Friends of the Library group will dissect “Every Last One“ by Anna Quindlen on Tues., Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m.
Youth programs (registration required):
Design Your Own Library Card (ages 3-5) — September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. Design your own library card and we will hang it up on a bulletin board. Sat., Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.
Art Adventures (ages 4-6) — Get creative juices flowing and take home your own bubble wrap art. Some projects may be messy, so dress in play clothes. Thurs., Sept. 10, at 10 a.m.
Kidz Art Zone (grades K-2) — Budding artists can create op art with their friends. (Some projects may be messy, so dress in play clothes!) Thurs., Sept. 10, at 4 p.m.
Baby Songs (newborn to 24 months) — Make music with your little one! Older siblings will not be allowed into this program. Fri., Sept. 11, at 10 a.m.
Special Storytime (ages 2-6) — Story on Grandparents Day on Sat., Sept. 12, at 10 a.m.
Lego Club (grades 1-5) — The library supplies the Legos and you supply the creativity on Wed., Sept. 12, at 3 p.m.
Volunteers in grades 8-12 are sought to help during Lego Club programs. Teens should have social skills and experience with children. Volunteers will earn community service hours for attendance. Space is limited to 4 volunteers per session. The first session begins Sept. 12 at 2:45 p.m.
