A two-alarm blaze broke out at the Dollar Tree Store in the East Windsor Town Center Wednesday evening, police said.
According to police, the fire started in the storage room at 370 Route 130 at approximately 6:07 p.m. on Aug. 12.
“Prior to the arrival of patrol officers, the store had been evacuated,” said East Windsor Township Police Department Investigative Services Commander Lt. Jeffrey Dorrian in a press release.
He said the fire, which was contained to the storage room, was extinguished by East Windsor Volunteer Fire Department.
“There was no structural damage to the building as a result of the fire, but it was necessary to temporarily close the adjacent stores,” he said.
The East Windsor Police Department along with the fire departments from East Windsor, Hightstown, Plainsboro, Cranbury, and Monroe responded to the blaze. In addition, East Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad No. 1, Robert Wood Johnson EMS, and Cranbury EMS responded to the scene to assist with the accident.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire, police said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, police said.
As of press time, Dollar Tree Store Manager Nicole Bassamore was unable to comment on the incident.
