HILLSBOROUGH: Amsterdam School celebrates 25 years 

On Monday, Oct. 12, students and staff at Amsterdam Elementary School celebrated the building’s 25th birthday.
On hand at the assembly to help celebrate were the school’s first principal, Ted Smith; former Amsterdam principal Dr. Nancy Richmond, the Superintendent of Schools when Amsterdam building opened, Dr. Bob Gulick, and the current Superintendent, Dr. Jorden Schiff.
The school’s mascot, the Amsterdam Eagle, also made an appearance.
During the assembly, teachers held a 1990 versus 2015 dance contest on stage. The Amsterdam students voted the 2015 dancers as the winners.
Students also were challenged to guess 1990s items. An image of a pager stumped all of the students.
Mr. Smith, Dr. Gulick, Dr. Schiff and Mary Ann Mullady, the school’s current principal, were questioned by students as to their favorite memory from Amsterdam Elementary School. 
