SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Driver involved in hit-an-run arrested on drug charges

A Dayton man who was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Ridge Road that sent a 70-year-old woman to the hospital has been charged with drug violations and assorted motor vehicle violations, according to the South Brunswick Township Police Department.
Ryan Tiedemann, 30, of Dayton, was charged in the accident that occurred at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 13. He was traveling east on Ridge Road when his 2006 Nissan Pathfinder crossed the center line and struck a west-bound 2014 Hyundai Accent driven by Wilma Davis, 70, of South Brunswick Township, police said.
Police found Ms. Davis’ car in the road, but not the Pathfinder. Ms. Davis, who complained of chest pains from the accident, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by the South Brunswick Township EMS, police said.
Police searched the area for the Pathfinder, and found it in a nearby office complex. Witnesses told police they saw Mr. Tiedemann drive into the complex, nearly striking a mailbox.
One witness observed Mr. Tiedemann staggering in the parking lot, and also watched him toss several items into a sewer drain, police said. A search of the sewer drain revealed several hypodermic syringes.
Police found Mr. Tiedemann in a bathroom inside one of the offices, where he was flushing the toilet. They determined that he was under the influence of drugs and arrested him. Police recovered a large piece of plastic tubing in his possession, and heroin folds inside his shoes.
Mr. Tiedemann was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, driving while under the influence and hindering apprehension, He was also given numerous motor vehicle summonses, including leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.[
