HILLSBOROUGH: School board member asks votes for two ‘high-quality’ women

To the editor:
Please support Deena Centafonti and Dana Boguszewski, and vote to return these two high-quality individuals to the Board of Education.
I have served for nearly a full year on the Board of Education with both Dana and Deena, and, aside from their dealing with the difficult tasks of membership, I have grown to respect and admire them as individuals balancing family life, work, charity and civic devotions. They are caring, intelligent and thoughtful members of the board and we need to keep them there for another term.
Please vote for my friends, Dana and Deena.

Colleagues on Township Committee
support Carl Suraci, Greg Burchette
To the editor:
We have had the distinct pleasure of serving on the Township Committee with Deputy Mayor Greg Burchette for the past three years. We have also been privileged to work and see the positive contributions Committeeman Carl Suraci has brought to this town in his ten plus years of public service to Hillsborough. We are proud to endorse both of these outstanding public servants and leaders for re-election to the Township Committee.
Greg Burchette and Carl Suraci are both long time residents of Hillsborough, and have consistently shown their dedication to our community with an unrelenting focus on ensuring that the needs of our residents are met. They are both hard working, disciplined, focused individuals of high character and integrity, in addition to being extremely effective leaders for Hillsborough.
They are not just politicians; they are husbands, fathers, uncles, coaches and leaders. They are committed to making Hillsborough a better place for residents of today and for residents of the future. Their decisions and actions remain true to their core principles of fiscal responsibility, a businesslike approach to municipal government, preservation of open space, economic growth and support for our business community and open and transparent government.
With their leadership and support, the municipal government has kept spending below 2 percent cap, significantly increased the number of acres of preserved land services, instituted the Shop Hillsborough program to promote local business and expanded programs for our seniors and veterans.
Through the efforts of the Republican-led Township Committee, we have striven to keep Hillsborough as one of the “One of the Best Places to Live in America.” Hillsborough continues to be recognized by a number of well-respected third-party sources as a model community, including Hillsborough being the only town listed from New Jersey in Money Magazine.
In Hillsborough, your elected officials work as a team. Greg Burchette and Carl Suraci have consistently have proven themselves to be the type of public servants and leaders we can all be proud of. We strongly endorse their re-election. We believe they have earned your trust and we hope they have earned your vote on Nov. 3.

Local Democrats show their strength
by fielding candidates on three levels
To the editor:
It may come as a surprise to some that there are more than 5,000 registered Democratic voters in our town. Further, the viability of the Hillsborough Democratic party is shown by the fact that a local resident is vying for the Assembly, the county surrogate seat, as well as for the Township Committee.
Maureen Vella, as a former judge running for the Assembly seat, has seen firsthand the effects (good and bad) of legislation that affects every family. Because of her experience she will make sure that laws are written to benefit people, not the special interests.
Her running mate, Andrew Zwicker, is a Princeton University scientist who relies on evidence (not political ideology or rhetoric).
Christian Mastondrea, the Democratic candidate for surrogate, points out that this position requires the skills of an attorney. His opponent is not an attorney, so an attorney has to be hired at taxpayer expense to cover over this deficiency. Mr. Masotondrea, who is a noted attorney, points out that the role of surrogate affects every family, particularly during grieving or household transactions. A trained attorney is clearly a great benefit to the public.
The Democratic candidates for the Township Committee are two remarkable women who will work for our interests. We can end the tight control of the Township Committee by exercising your citizen right to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Join us in the drive to double the 2014 Hillsborough town turnout and to elect the team of Harris and Poppe, the team of new ideas and new leadership.
