In South Brunswick, police are investigating three residential burglaries that took place during the first week of August on Barbara Street, Hillside Avenue and Marc Drive. The burglaries do not appear to be connected, police said.

Numerous pieces of jewelry were stolen from the Barbara Street residence after the suspect gained entry through a first floor window on Aug. 2.

Jewelry and silver flatware were stolen from the residence on Hillside Avenue on Aug. 4 after suspects gained entry by smashing a basement window.

The suspects may have observed the residents leave the home and then proceeded to break in, according to police Lt. James Ryan.

Several witnesses described the suspects as two black males in their 20s. One was described as 5 feet 9 inches and dark-skinned with dreadlocks down to his shoulder. The second was described heavier than the first male.

The third burglary took place during the overnight hours of Aug. 6-7 at a Marc Drive residence. The resident woke up and observed a rear window open on the first floor of the home. Police searched the residence and determined a suspect had pried a lock on the window and made entry to the residence during the night. The suspect stole cash, an iPod and a purse.
