I believe the Pulda farm will help seniors in North Brunswick due to one great fact: the ones who have lived here for many years will be able to stay here, instead of moving down to the Shore or up in the boondocks of New Jersey or elsewhere.
It gives them a chance to stay here to be with children and grandchildren, and many of them baby-sit.
Moving away to an adult community elsewhere hinders this situation.
Is the opposing factor saying North Brunswick residents can’t afford senior housing?
I think they can.
I went to South Brunswick, Freehold, Upper Freehold, Jamesburg, Monroe and Howell and found out here in our great little town of North Brunswick, the taxes and upkeep were less expensive than all the others.
Most seniors who want to live in the 55-plus areas do come from larger homes and higher tax rates, and have found out it would cost less about 20 percent than what they are paying now.
I have lived here for 38 years and would not think of moving anywhere else.
It would be nice to stay here in North Brunswick and in a community of people we know and love.
Almost every town has a 55-plus center.
What about here in our own back yard?
Let’s put another feather in our cap and keep our seniors here in this wonderful community.
