‘Ms. Senior of Jackson’ pageant seeks ladies

JACKSON — According to Monica Pascarella, special events chairwoman for the Jackson Recreation Department, "This Jackson Day promises to be the best one ever with events for all ages to enjoy."

Jackson Day, Expo Around the World 2001, will be held Sept. 22 (rain date Sept. 23).

This year there will be a "Ms. Senior of Jackson" pageant from 2-2:30 p.m. The only requirements to participate are that entrants must be a woman over the age of 55, residing in Jackson, and not an employee or relative of an employee of the township.

The contest is limited to two criteria: presentation of oneself in a summer or fall outfit of the contestant’s choice and a brief biography.

First place will receive a free overnight stay courtesy of Freehold Gardens and a free makeover courtesy of Glamour Shots, Freehold Raceway Mall.

First- through third-place winners will receive various gift certificates for clothing or merchandise, dinners and beauty services. All contestants will receive a bouquet courtesy of Danielle’s Bloomers florist in Jackson.

If the winner of the pageant happens to be over the age of 60 and so desires, she will be interviewed by the 1996 winner of the Ms. New Jersey Senior America pageant, Gladys Canetti, for possible inclusion in that pageant.

Anyone interested in participating in the "Ms. Senior of Jackson" pageant should call (732) 928-1200, Ext. 202 to request a registration form. Three contestants have already signed up and space is limited to 10, according to a press release. There will be one rehearsal in September, prior to the pageant.
