The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s 18-Hole Golf Association’s Sept. 18 outing. The game played was best ball with a pro. In Flight A, Dot Wright was the winner with 63, followed by Rita Reisart (64, match of cards) and Elaine Jadacki (64). Carloyn Meyer had low putts of 31. In Flight B, Muriel Feniella was the winner with 63, followed by Doris Kohlberg (64) and Carol Jankowski (66). Judy Weinberg had low putts of 33. In Flight C, Claudia Homoki was the winner with 60, followed by Helen Slomiak (63) and Janice McElhiney (64). Perry Pernice had low putts of 31.

The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s Nine Hole Golf Association’s Sept. 27 outing. The game played was favorite holes (choose four holes whose par total 16), half handicap. In Flight A, Marge Widder was the winner with 16, followed by Ellie de la Bandera (19) and Annabelle Donnamarie (21). In Flight B, Jean Ertle was the winner with 12, followed by Mary Ann Gelsinon (16), Diane Del Mastro (17) and Doris Colgrove (17). In Flight C, Pat Bochis was the winner with 16 (match of cards) followed by Rosanne Marosy (16), Helen Michna (16) and Mary Thompson (17). Dot Peters had the fewest putts with 14.

The 24th Annual East Brunswick Road Races will be held Sunday at the Crystal Springs Aquatic Center on Dunhams Corner Road. The races include the East Brunswick 10K, the John Ragone 5K and Kids’ Pumpkin Dashes. Early registration and packet pick-up are Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the J.C. Penney court of the Brunswick Square Mall. Registration fees are $20 for the 5K and 10K races ($2 for East Brunswick residents and USATD members). Registration starts at 11 a.m. on race day. The kids’ dashes will start at noon, with both the 5K and 10K races getting under way at 1 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to community service organizations, including the Camp Daisy Scholarship Fund and the Simon Youth Foundation. The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s 18-Hole Golf Association’s Oct. 2 Two Ball Best Ball Tournament. Lee Barra and Meryl Abramowitz took first place with a 66 (match of cards), followed by Carolyn Meyer and Claudia Homoki (66), Terry Massaro and Judy Weinberg (69), Susan Kelner and Thelma Tsacnaris (71), and Jean Hetzler and Perry Pernice (71). Rita Reisert had low putts of 29.

The East Brunswick Explosion U12 girls travel soccer team were the co-champions at the Berkeley Columbus Day Soccer Tournament. The girls scored six goals and did not allow a goal in the three games they played. After a scoreless championship game with two overtime periods, the girls were declared co-champions. The following girls play on the team: Dana Alessi, Alexis Adinolfi, Danielle Anderson, Morgan Brown, Courtney Catania, Amanda DeCicco, Jamie DeVivo, Nicolle Donlon, Casey Keach, Lauren Onifer, Dana Pagliuco, Patrice Resch, Carolann Simpson, Courtney Simpson and Ashley Sjostrom.

Sayreville Recreation Wrestling continues to hold registration weekdays at the Recreation Office on Dolan Street from 10a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is open to students in Sayreville and South Amboy through the eighth grade. No previous wrestling experience is required and those attending will receive training by qualified coaches. Practices are held weeknights at Arleth Elementary School on Washington Road. Morganville’s Erin Johnson is a member of the 2001 Rutgers University, New Brunswick, women’s cross country team. The senior was the Scarlet Knight’s No. 2 runner at the Monmouth Invitational, held at Tatum Park, Middletown. Johnson, an 800-meter runner on the track team, finished 32nd overall, touring the 5,000-meter course in 20:10.4. The Knights were sixth in the 18-team field with a team score of 212. Cornell was first with 40.

Next up for the Scarlet Knights is this weekend’s Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park, the Bronx, N.Y. The Big East Championships will also be run there on Oct. 26.

The 21st annual Bruce Barrett Memorial Race Against Hunger, which will benefit the Open Door food pantry of Freehold, will be held Oct. 21 in Liberty Oak Park, Georgia Road, Freehold Township. The Central Jersey Express U-16 baseball team concluded its season at the Pretzel City Tournament in Reading, Pa., where the Express reached the semifinals and lost to the eventual champion the Canadian Extreme.

The Express are made up of area players: Anthony Cangialosi, Peter Eadicicco, Doug Frueh, Mike Henningan, Brian Kulig, Geoff Lau, Chris Marino, John Mazzola, Jordan Noval, Ralph Protano, Kyle St. Angelo, Joe San Pietro, Dave Sauchelli, Phil Tortorelli and John Walsh. The team is coached by Lou Protano and assistant J.P. Noval.

The Jersey Dreamers, an U18 fastpitch softball team, is looking for three or four dedicated, quality players to complete its roster for the 2002 team. The Dreamers are composed of former players from a Premier U16 team, which was the winner of three tournaments before moving up to U18 competition.
